Haier and NXP Join Hands on 3G Mobile Phones
January 25, 2008
As EETTaiwan reported on January 16, Chinese mobile phone vendor Haier and Dutch NXP Semiconductors have jointly announced that they will form strategic ties on the development of 3G mobile phones.

According the agreement between both companies, Haier will be using NXP's EDGE (Enhanced Data Rate for GSM Evolution) solution in its quasi-3G mobile phones. NEX's EDGE solution features a Nexperia platform that integrates and connects various multimedia functions, while eliminating the need to use an external processor.

Haier mobile phones based on NXP EDGE solution are expected to hit the market in January 2008.
